Break in the Clouds by Grennadder Break in the Clouds by Grennadder
I have never really drawn Spitfire before, but I was encouraged to. Have to say, her hair is a huge pain to shade but I think I did it right.

This was also all colored and shaded today, so total completion time was... about 5 hours. (Not that fast, but I think I am improving there).

Hope you all enjoy it, Im not a big fan of how it came out but I needed the variety.

Awesome.

I love her mane, It just looks so soft and shiny!

With everything in the background blurred, it really makes Spitfire stand out sharply as the only motionless object. Gives me a strong sense that the viewer is flying right alongside her. I'm sure such a technique is one of the oldest in the book, but it's still pretty cool.

Ah. I see.

Well, I saw what I saw. Then I decided, "Huh...that must be a technique that artists use. This shall make me sound observant!"

I am curious. How do you shade your hair? I usually just use softer shading on hair, but I am looking into new variations on how to shade hair...

Well, depends on the brush you use. I use a hard round brush with a little less then 100 opacity. Make big strokes initially, then with brighter highlights, you drop the brush size.
